BassLab presents SIREN [Muti Music]

Friday, January 15th 2010

BassLab presents:

SIREN [Muti Music]
http://soundcloud.com/siren-music
http://www.myspace.com/sirenheat

Live drums, heavy synths, groove and energy are the foundation that Brandan Hale AKA Siren builds on. Hailing from Oregon and now settled in San Francisco, Siren is another new west coast find that has been making his distinctive mark on midtempo breakbeats and dubstep. With a background of metal influences and playing piano, saxophone, drums in punk, ska and metal bands, Siren brings both melody and unforgiving edge to his productions. Already making headway with touring the ‘bass’ scenes of the US west, expect bass that hits you in the gut, raw and pounding lead riffs and some epic instrumental accompaniments, truly made for ‘large’ environments or the most urban of basements.

Featuring :

DJ ICEY
http://www.djicey.com | http://www.myspace.com/djicey | Orlando, FL

Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey has been mesmerized by electronic music ever since hearing the synthesizer breakdown on The Edgar Winter Groups "Frankenstein". "My mom had that album and I would play that middle part over and over wondering how they made that sound, Icey recounts. I was little and thought it was so cool". Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando FLorida electronic music scene which has spawned the likes of AK 1200,Kimball Collins, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, and Baby Anne, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub in the mid-90s, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there. When The Edge closed in 1996, DJ Icey hit the road and has stayed on it since.

Forest Green
http://www.myspace.com/forestgreen | San Francisco, CA

Starting her DJ journey in the 1990's San Francisco underground, Forest Green continues to explore the art of rocking the dance floor, and mastering the mix. 12 years later, she continues taking things to the next level, amazing crowds with her high energy, hot bass lines, and soul gripping grooves. Expect to hear only the freshest jamz, as she searches high and low for the most cutting edge, floor shaking, booty quaking EDM the world has to offer, and brings it straight to you!

S.P.E.C.T.R.E.
http://www.myspace.com/spectrebeats| http://www.temporalfusion.com | Denver, CO

S.P.E.C.T.R.E. brings a diverse mixture of bass heavy music combining glitch hop, dubstep and beyond with a flare for the unexpected. His seamless blending of styles and tempos and on the fly mash-ups has made him a crowd favorite in Colorado. Co-founder of the Jungle Labs crew and a member of the Denver Bass Squad, S.P.E.C.T.R.E. has built a large following from the infamous Jungle Labs warehouse parties, regular nights at Denver’s Beta Nightclub, and his mixtapes on the Temporal Fusion podcast. Expect nothing short of an all out assault of crunkadelic party music.

MiMoSA takes listeners on a journey through warm rhythmic sound-scapes, with melodies and vocal samples smoothly crafted to help navigate the sonic terrain. S.P.E.C.T.R.E. mentioned on JamBase!

Check out the review of the Sonic Bloom pre-party at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO.

Click Here for the full article.

"Beginning the Pre-Parties the first night was young Reuben Garst, aka S.P.E.C.T.R.E. His style blends filthy low-end whomp subs and drums with cut up boughetto a capellas. Respectably snatching samples by '90s faves like Ginuwine, Busta Rhymes, Salt n Pepa, he carefully merges them with well produced backing tracks from the likes of Tipper and Mimosa. While many dance floors are left bare at a 9 p.m. concert launch, this was not the case for Reuben as he gave the gratified early bloomers something to dance about."

BassLab 001 : Propa Tingz @ Beta [Beatport Lounge] FRI 7.10.2009

We're starting things off propa... ;)

CLICK HERE to get on the $10 list

PROPA TINGZ (aka BreakBeatBuddha)

PROPA TINGZ is responsible for some of the biggest dance floor bangers to emerge from the west coast scene in recent years. Originally hailing from the UK PropaTingz made his way to San Francisco and has since emerged as one of the hottest names on the US Nu-school electronica scene. Under his previous moniker as BreakBeatBuddha he helped forge the now lauded California Glitch Hop scene alongside artists such as the Glitch Mob, edit and Laser Sword. As PropaTingz he is widely acknowledged as the pioneer of Glitch Step, a bad bwoy sound clash of Bay Area Hyphy, Dirty South Crunk, UK Bass and the cutting edge of Glitch.

Recent years have seen PropaTingz/Break Beat Buddha on numerous releases, including his explosive debut album "Mind Bombin' (2007), "The New Resistance" EP (2008) and collaborations/compilations with Bassnectar, Talvin Singh and Dj Spooky amongst others. His production is attracting interest globally catching the attention of heavy hitters such as FreQ Nasty who collaborated with him on 'Peacemaker', track 2 of his Fabric live 42 CD (FABRIC, LONDON), and similarly with Vienna's bass emperor STEREOTYP" (G-stone recordings, Crunch Time). In the pipe line PropaTingz brings a remix project with KRS 1 and Heavy weight Dub Champion on Champion Nation recordings, a single with FreQ Nasty, and the first PropaTingz studio album. 2009 looks to be a big year for the San Francisco/Midlands Glitch and Bass Maestro.
